One of the most widely used music streaming platforms worldwide, YouTube Music, which is integrated with YouTube, is preparing to introduce a small but significant feature that users have been eagerly waiting for. Here’s what you need to know about this new feature…
YouTube Music now allows you to add thumbnails!
YouTube Music is getting ready to allow users to add custom cover photos to their playlists. The feature, which is currently in the testing phase, is available on the platform’s web version, where some users have noticed a new pencil icon appearing in the lower right corner of the playlist cover image. These users shared their findings on Reddit and other forum sites.
When users click on this pencil icon, they encounter two options: ‘Select from library’ and ‘Remove image.’ By selecting the first option, users can upload a desired photo from their computer, crop it to fit the playlist cover dimensions, and the background of the playlist is instantly updated once the image is added.
This feature has been long-awaited, particularly by users who are not satisfied with the AI-generated images or who have many playlists and want to distinguish them more easily. Currently, the system displays a 2×2 grid of album covers as the playlist cover.
This new feature is expected to help YouTube Music attract users from its competitor, Spotify. Once the platform brings this feature to its mobile applications, it will deliver a functionality that users have been waiting for quite some time.
